There are mornings when life feels steady — coffee warm, sky clear, plans in order. And then there are mornings when everything feels like it is shifting beneath your feet. A diagnosis. A relationship fracturing. A door that will not open no matter how hard you knock.
The sons of Korah wrote Psalm 46 in a world not so different from ours — empires rising, cities trembling, enemies at the gate. And yet, right in the middle of the chaos, they planted their faith in one unshakeable truth: God is here. God is enough.
Notice the Psalmist does not promise smooth ground or still waters. He says therefore we will not fear — even when the earth gives way. The foundation of our peace is not the absence of trouble. It is the presence of God in it.
Verse 10 of the same Psalm carries one of the most counter-cultural commands in all of Scripture: "Be still, and know that I am God." In an age of noise — notifications, news cycles, endless demands — stillness feels like a luxury we cannot afford. But God says stillness is where we remember who He is. It is where fear loses its grip and faith finds its footing again.
You do not have to have all the answers today. You do not have to fix it, explain it, or carry it alone. The One who holds the mountains in place holds you — and He is not shaken.
