“Your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”

A farmer once told his son, “If you want to plough straight lines, don’t look at the ground. Fix your eyes on a tree in the distance and walk toward it.” The boy tried it. When he looked down at the soil, his lines curved. When he looked at the tree, his lines were straight. The difference was simple. His direction depended on what he focused on.
Many people today struggle with direction because their eyes are everywhere except on God. They look at circumstances, emotions, opinions and pressure. They look at what others are doing. They look at what they fear might happen. And like the boy in the field, their lives begin to curve. Their decisions become inconsistent. Their confidence becomes shaky. Their path becomes unclear.
But Scripture teaches that God is not silent. He leads. He guides. He speaks. He directs. Divine direction is not reserved for prophets or pastors. It is the birthright of every believer who chooses to listen. God leads through His Word, through His peace, through wise counsel, through open and closed doors and through the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit. When God is leading, His direction carries clarity, not confusion. It produces peace, not pressure. It aligns with Scripture, not emotion.
And how do you know it is truly God leading you
Look for validation.
1. God’s direction will never contradict His Word
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
If the direction violates Scripture, it is not from God.
2. God’s direction is confirmed by godly counsel
Proverbs 11:14 says, “In the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”
Wise voices will echo what God is already stirring in your heart.
3. God’s direction carries peace, even when the step is challenging
Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”
Peace is God’s internal confirmation.
4. God’s direction will not rush you into fear or panic
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear.”
If fear is driving the decision, God is not the author.
5. God’s direction draws you closer to Him, not away
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Anything that weakens your walk with God is not His leading.
Divine direction may stretch you, but it will never confuse you. It may challenge you, but it will never contradict God’s character. When God leads, His voice aligns with His Word, His peace and His nature.
So the word for today is this: Fix your eyes on God, and He will make your path straight.
