“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5

A young woman once boarded a flight in heavy fog. As the plane began to descend, she looked out of the window and felt her stomach tighten. She could not see the runway. She could not see the ground. She could not see anything. Yet the pilot kept descending with complete calm. When the wheels finally touched down, she realised something important. The pilot did not need to see the runway. He trusted the instruments. The instruments saw what he could not.

Many of us live our spiritual lives like that woman at the window. We panic when we cannot see what God is doing. We worry when the path ahead is unclear. We feel unsafe when the future looks foggy. We want God to show us everything before we take a single step. But God often leads us through seasons where visibility is low. Not to frighten us, but to teach us to trust His voice more than our understanding.

Abraham understood this. God told him, “Go to the land I will show you.” Not the land He had already shown him. Abraham walked without a map because he trusted the One who was leading him.
Peter understood this. Jesus told him to step out of the boat. The water made no sense, but the voice of Jesus did.
The early church understood this. The Holy Spirit redirected them away from Asia and toward Macedonia. They did not see the full picture, but they trusted the One who did.

Trusting God does not mean pretending everything makes sense. It means believing He sees what you cannot. It means choosing obedience even when the path is unclear. It means surrendering your need to control the outcome and resting in the fact that God already knows the destination.

You may not see the runway, but God does.
You may not understand the season, but God does.
You may not know the next step, but God does.

He is not asking you to walk blindly. He is asking you to walk confidently, knowing His eyes are on the road ahead even when yours are not.

So the word for today is this: When the path makes no sense, trust the God who sees the whole journey.

1 Samuel 11 to 13, John 10 verse 22 to 42

A Prayer for Today

Lord Jesus, I ask You for mercy and I ask for godly wisdom today.
Teach me to trust You when I cannot see clearly.
Help me lean on Your understanding, not my own.
Guide my steps, steady my heart and lead me through every season where the path feels uncertain.
I choose to trust Your voice above my fears.
Amen.

— Amen

Reflection

  • 1Where am I demanding full clarity from God before I obey, and what fear is sitting underneath that hesitation This helps you identify the real barrier to trust.
  • 2Which area of my life feels foggy right now, and how is God inviting me to trust His voice more than my understanding This brings the message into your present reality.
  • 3What step of obedience is God asking me to take today, even if I cannot see the full outcome yet This moves you from reflection to action.
