STARTING A NEW BUSINESS

Light of the World Today

"A gift opens doors for the one who gives it and brings that person into the presence of the great." Proverbs 18:16 NLT

Many people believe that successful businesses begin with large amounts of money, specialist training, or a groundbreaking invention. Often, they begin somewhere much simpler. They begin with a problem.

Sara Blakely was selling fax machines when she became frustrated by a problem she faced every time she wore certain clothes. Instead of ignoring it, she looked for a solution. That simple observation eventually became Spanx, a company worth billions. She did not start with business experience or vast resources. She started by paying attention to a need.

This reflects a powerful biblical principle. God often places opportunities within our everyday experiences. The challenge that frustrates you, the difficulty you have overcome, or the skill you have developed may be more valuable than you realise.

Your gift is not merely a qualification or a job title. It is the unique combination of experiences, abilities, knowledge, and insight that God has given you. When you use that gift to serve others and solve real problems, doors begin to open.

The woman described in Proverbs 31 recognised opportunities and acted on them. Daniel became influential because he developed the gifts God had placed within him. In the same way, God may be calling you to stop focusing on what you lack and start using what is already in your hand.

Do not underestimate the value of your experience. The solution someone else is praying for may already be part of your story.

God rarely starts with what we do not have. He starts with what is already in our hands. Pay attention to the problems you notice, the lessons you have learned, and the gifts God has given you. As you faithfully use them to help others, He can open doors that you never imagined possible.

Memory Verse

"A gift opens doors for the one who gives it and brings that person into the presence of the great."

Proverbs 18:16 NLT

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gifts, experiences, and opportunities You have placed in my life. Help me to recognise the needs around me and to use what You have given me to serve others well. Give me wisdom, courage, and perseverance to act on the opportunities You place before me. May everything I build bring honour to You and blessing to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

— Amen
