Light of the World Today
"I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead."

A few years ago, a man named Thomas sat across from a close friend in a coffee shop in Manchester. On paper, his life looked successful. He had a good salary, a comfortable flat, and a social life that kept him busy. Yet beneath it all was a persistent emptiness he could not explain. He was not unhappy exactly. He simply felt as though something essential was missing.
As they talked, his friend said something unexpected.
"I think you are missing a relationship. Not a romantic one. The relationship you were created for."
Those words stayed with Thomas for weeks because they captured exactly what he was experiencing. He was relationally full and spiritually empty at the same time. No amount of achievement, entertainment, or activity seemed able to close the gap.
Thomas's story is not unusual. It is the story of countless people today. The answer is not found in more success, more possessions, or a busier schedule. The answer is found in a person, Jesus Christ.
Many people think Christianity is primarily a moral system, a set of rules, or a religious tradition. But at its core, Christianity is an invitation into a relationship with the living Son of God. Jesus did not come merely to give information about God. He came so that people could know God personally.
In John 17:3, Jesus said:
"This is the way to have eternal life, to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth."
Notice that eternal life is described as a relationship. It begins the moment a person receives Christ and continues forever. It is not simply about going to heaven one day. It is about knowing God today.
The wonderful news is that this relationship cannot be earned. Many people assume they must first become better, more religious, or more worthy before approaching God. Yet Scripture teaches the opposite. Jesus takes the initiative.
Revelation 3:20 records Him saying:
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
Jesus does not force His way into anyone's life. He knocks. He invites. He waits for a response.
Some people ask why Jesus is different from every other religious leader. The answer begins with His own claims. Jesus did not merely point people toward truth. He claimed to be the truth.
John 14:6 (NKJV) reads:
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"
Jesus is not offering you a religion. He is offering you Himself. If you recognise today that something is missing, perhaps what your heart is longing for is the very relationship it was created to have. You do not need to have all the answers, and you do not need to make yourself worthy before coming to Him. Simply respond to His invitation. If you are ready to begin that relationship today, you can pray: "Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the way, the truth, and the life. I acknowledge my need for You and ask You to forgive my sins. I believe that You died for me and rose again. Today I open the door of my heart and invite You into my life. Help me to know You, follow You, and grow in relationship with You each day. Thank You for loving me and receiving me as Your own. Amen."
