Scripture for Today
“He is not here, for He has risen, as He said.”
Matthew 28:6
Easter Monday is the first full day humanity ever lived in a world where death had been defeated. It is the first sunrise where the grave no longer held the final word. It is the first morning where sin no longer had absolute power. It is the first day where hope became stronger than despair. Easter Monday is not a quiet afterthought to Easter Sunday. It is the beginning of a new creation.
On this day, the risen Christ began to reveal Himself. He went to Mary in her tears. He went to the disciples in their fear. He went to the travellers in their confusion. He went to Thomas in his doubt. The resurrection was not only a victory. It was a pursuit. Jesus rose, and then He went after broken hearts.
This is the truth we often overlook. The risen Christ does not wait for us to find Him. He comes to find us. He steps into our locked rooms, our unanswered questions, our quiet fears and our hidden places. Easter Monday teaches us that resurrection is not only something Jesus experienced. It is something He brings into our lives.
THE GLOBAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESURRECTION
The resurrection of Jesus is not simply a Christian belief. It is the most disruptive event in human history. It changed the direction of nations, the meaning of life and the destiny of humanity.
1. Jesus is the only leader in history who rose from the dead
Every founder of every religion died and remained in the grave.
Only Jesus rose again.
Only Jesus left an empty tomb.
Only Jesus proved His authority over death.
Scripture says:
“He is not here, for He has risen” (Matthew 28:6).
Jesus declared:
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
No other leader made this claim.
No other leader fulfilled it.
2. His resurrection proves His words are trustworthy
Jesus predicted His resurrection:
“The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise” (Mark 9:31).
He fulfilled it exactly.
If He kept the promise of resurrection, He will keep every promise He has spoken over your life.
“Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens” (Psalm 119:89).
3. His blood is the only blood that cleanses completely
“How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14).
His blood does not simply cover sin.
It removes it.
It cleanses the conscience.
It restores the inner life.
4. His death paid the debt no human could pay
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Jesus paid that wage in full.
He did not negotiate it.
He cancelled it.
When He cried, “It is finished” (John 19:30), the debt of sin was settled forever.
5. His resurrection opened the only door to eternal life
Jesus defined eternal life:
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3).
Eternal life is not earned.
It is received.
It is not a reward.
It is a gift.
Only the risen Christ can give eternal life because only the risen Christ conquered death.
LESSONS WE RARELY CONSIDER ABOUT THE RISEN CHRIST
1. God finishes what He starts
“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion” (Philippians 1:6).
Creation began with life.
Redemption ends with life.
God never leaves a story half written.
2. God works even when we see nothing
The disciples saw silence.
Heaven saw victory.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Your silence is not evidence of God’s absence.
3. God values individuals, not just crowds
Jesus appeared to Mary first.
He called her by name.
“Jesus said to her, Mary” (John 20:16).
He sees the one before He addresses the many.
4. God restores before He sends
Jesus restored Peter before commissioning him.
“Do you love Me? Feed My sheep” (John 21:17).
He heals the heart before He hands the assignment.
5. God’s power is not limited by human barriers
“Jesus came and stood among them, though the doors were locked” (John 20:19).
Locked doors did not stop Him.
Fear did not stop Him.
Doubt did not stop Him.
Nothing you face today can stop Him either.
HOW TO APPLY THIS TO YOUR LIFE TODAY
Live with the awareness that Jesus is alive now
“I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).
Not historically alive.
Presently alive.
Actively involved.
Bring your fears into His presence
He walked into locked rooms.
He will walk into yours.
“Peace be with you” (John 20:19).
Let Him rewrite the parts of your story you have given up on
Peter thought he was finished.
Jesus thought otherwise.
“But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail” (Luke 22:32).
Trust His words above your feelings
“Your word is truth” (John 17:17).
Your emotions change.
His truth does not.
Walk in the freedom He purchased
“For freedom Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1).
Do not carry what He already carried.
Do not fight what He already defeated.
Do not hold what He already released.
THE GOOD NEWS OF EASTER MONDAY
The risen Christ is not a distant figure.
He is the living Saviour who steps into ordinary lives with extraordinary grace.
He is the only One who rose from the dead.
The only One whose blood cleanses completely.
The only One who paid the debt of sin.
The only One who offers eternal life.
The only One who keeps every promise.
The only One who can be trusted with your past, your present and your future.
He has risen.
And because He has risen, you can rise too.
CLOSING THOUGHT
Easter Monday is the reminder that resurrection is not behind you.
It is beside you.
It is within you.
It is ahead of you.
The risen Christ is still moving, still speaking, still restoring and still calling.
The tomb is empty, and because of that, your life does not have to be.
