Light of the World
When God strengthens you in the silence and teaches you to trust His unseen work
“The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14 NIV
A woman once trained for a long distance race. She was not a natural runner. She struggled with breathing. Her legs burned. Her pace was slow. But she kept showing up.
One morning she reached a point in her training where she felt completely empty. She stopped running and sat on the pavement with her head in her hands. She whispered, I cannot do this anymore.
A coach who had been watching her from a distance walked over and said, You think you are failing because you feel tired. But this is the moment your body is learning endurance. This is the moment your strength is being built. You are not losing. You are growing.
She stood up again. Not because she felt stronger, but because she understood the struggle was part of the process.
This is exactly where many believers stand today. Not at the beginning of faith. Not at the end of the promise. But in the silent stretch where God feels quiet and the heart feels tired.
And this is where God whispers, Do not lose heart. I am fighting for you even when you cannot feel it.
Looking Back at Part 1 and Part 2
In Part 1 we learned that God renews us day by day even when life feels heavy.
In Part 2 we learned that God meets us in the middle, the long stretch where endurance is formed.
Today in Part 3 we learn something deeper.
God does some of His greatest work in the silence.
Not when you feel Him.
Not when you see results.
But when you stand still and trust Him to fight for you.
When God seems silent but He is not absent
“The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14 NIV
This verse was spoken to Israel at the Red Sea.
They were trapped.
The sea in front of them.
An army behind them.
Fear rising inside them.
They wanted to run.
They wanted to fight.
They wanted to do something.
But God said, Be still.
Not because the situation was small.
But because the battle was not theirs.
There are moments in your life where God will ask you to be still.
Not passive.
Not careless.
But still.
Still enough to hear Him.
Still enough to trust Him.
Still enough to let Him fight what you cannot.
When the silence feels like abandonment
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 NIV
Silence is not absence.
Silence is often strategy.
God was silent when Joseph was in prison.
But He was positioning him for the palace.
God was silent when Ruth gleaned in the fields.
But He was guiding her to Boaz.
God was silent when Jesus lay in the tomb.
But He was preparing resurrection.
Silence is not the end of the story.
It is the space where God writes the next chapter.
When you feel like giving up
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart.”
Psalm 73:26 NIV
There are days when your strength fails.
Your courage fades.
Your hope feels thin.
This is not the moment to quit.
This is the moment to lean.
Lean on the God who carries you when you cannot carry yourself.
Lean on the God who strengthens you when your strength is gone.
Lean on the God who renews you day by day.
Example
Florence Chadwick attempted to swim from Catalina Island to the California coast.
Fifteen hours into the swim a thick fog settled around her.
She could not see the shore.
She felt cold.
She felt tired.
She felt alone.
She asked to be pulled out.
When she climbed into the boat she discovered she was less than one mile from the shore.
Later she said, I did not fail because I was tired. I failed because I could not see.
Two months later she tried again.
The same fog came.
But this time she kept a picture of the shoreline in her mind.
She finished the swim.
The lesson is simple.
When you cannot see what God is doing, remember what He has said.
The Danger of Moving Too Quickly
When people panic in the silence, they often make decisions that create more pain.
They rush relationships.
They force opportunities.
They step into roles God has not prepared them for.
They try to fight battles God never asked them to fight.
Stillness is not weakness.
Stillness is wisdom.
Stillness is trust.
How to Apply This Today
One: Be honest with God about the silence
Tell Him where you feel forgotten.
Tell Him where you feel tired.
He already knows.
Two: Practise stillness for five minutes today
Sit quietly.
Breathe.
Say, Lord I trust You even when I cannot see You.
Three: Stop fighting battles that belong to God
Ask yourself, Is this my fight or His
If it is His, release it.
Four: Remember what God has already done
Write down one moment where He carried you before.
Let that memory strengthen you now.
Five: Keep your eyes on the shoreline
Hold the promise in your mind even when the fog surrounds you.
