Light of The World Today
"Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words." Daniel 10:12 NKJV
So far we have seen angels protect, guide and strengthen. Today we look at something that surprises many believers. Scripture shows that behind the visible world there is a real conflict, and angels have a part in it. Ephesians 6:12 in the NIV says our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities and spiritual forces of evil. Understanding this can change how you pray when answers seem slow.
Daniel: The Answer Was Sent on Day One
In Daniel 10:2 and 3 Daniel mourned and prayed for three weeks. Nothing seemed to happen. Then an angel appeared and told him, your words were heard from the first day. The answer had been sent immediately, but in verse 13 the angel explained that the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia resisted him for 21 days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help him.
Think about what Daniel did not know. For three weeks he saw only silence, while a conflict was going on in the unseen realm. He kept praying anyway. The NLT puts it plainly: from the first day, your request has been heard in heaven. A delayed answer is not a denied one. Sometimes there is a battle taking place that you cannot see.
"That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty five thousand in the Assyrian camp."
2 Kings 19:35 NIV
Hezekiah: Prayer Before the Deliverance
When the Assyrian king threatened Jerusalem, Hezekiah took the threatening letter, went into the temple and spread it out before the Lord (2 Kings 19:14). He prayed. That night, according to verse 35, the angel of the Lord struck the Assyrian camp, and the threat was gone by morning. Hezekiah did not fight with arguments. He brought the problem to God and God acted.
Michael: A Lesson in Humility
Jude 9 in the NIV tells us that even the archangel Michael, when disputing with the devil, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation but said, the Lord rebuke you. If Michael did not rely on his own authority, we should not rely on ours. Spiritual strength comes from God, not from loud words. Also remember that Ephesians 6:12 says the struggle is not against people. Do not treat the person who hurts you as the enemy.
How to Apply This Today
Keep praying through the delay: Write down the date you first prayed for something. When doubt arises, remember Daniel's 21 days and carry on.
Spread it out before the Lord: Like Hezekiah, take the specific problem, whether a letter, a diagnosis or a bill, and lay it before God in prayer.
Fight with God's weapons: Use prayer, his word and humility. Do not argue with the enemy, and do not treat people as the enemy.
Conclusion
Your prayers are heard from the first day. Behind a long silence there may be a struggle you cannot see, and God has his messengers at work. Keep praying and bring your need to him. Part 6 closes the series with how to live in step with God's help, including hospitality to strangers and worshipping God alone.
Memory Verse
