God Is Lifting You From What Tried to Hold You
There are seasons in life when you feel stuck—emotionally, spiritually, financially, or even mentally. You’re not moving backward, but you’re not moving forward either. You’re standing in the middle, wondering if anything is changing at all. Many people connected deeply with the truth that God works in the places where you feel stuck. But there is a powerful continuation to that message: God doesn’t just work in the stuck place , He brings you out of it.
Psalm 40:1–2 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” This scripture reveals something profound about God’s character. He is not only present in your lowest moments. He is active, intentional, and committed to lifting you out of them.
Waiting seasons can feel like wasted seasons. When nothing seems to be moving, it’s easy to assume God is silent or distant. But Psalm 40 reminds us that God hears every cry, every whisper, every prayer spoken through tears. He hears you even when you feel unheard. He sees you even when you feel unseen. And He is working even when you feel stuck.
The pit is not permanent. The place that held you is not the place that will define you. Just as God lifted David out of the mud and set his feet on solid ground, He is preparing to lift you from what tried to hold you down. The emotional pit, the financial pit, the spiritual pit, the relational pit—none of these have the final say over your life.
Sometimes God allows you to stay in the stuck place long enough to strengthen you, shape you, and prepare you. But He never leaves you there. The same God who meets you in the pit is the God who lifts you out of it. The delay is not denial. The silence is not abandonment. The waiting is not punishment, it is preparation.
When God lifts you, He doesn’t just pull you out; He places you on solid ground. He gives you stability where there was once uncertainty. He gives you clarity where there was once confusion. He gives you strength where there was once weakness. He gives you purpose where there was once pain.
Your story is not ending in the pit. Your testimony is not that you were stuck, but that God brought you out. You are not just surviving the stuck place you are coming out stronger, wiser, and more grounded than before. God is lifting you from what tried to hold you, and He is setting your feet on a firm foundation.
